Mid week

It's mid week now. Looking forward to Friday and we had bought tickets for the movie. Too bad that we were a little bit late and could not get our favourite seats. There are 3 movies for us to choose and we chose "Man On a Ledge". Hope it will be good movie.

Left office a bit late tonight. Got to clear some work hence stayed for a while. Although no mood to work but still have to work. Lame uh!

Shall continue to watch J-dramas.

Long long time ago

This afternoon, we went to Alexandra Village hawker center to have our lunch. Had QQ noodles for lunch. It's yummy. Weather was hot and we completed our meal with grass jelly drink. So shiok!

We went to the nearby confectionery shop to buy breads and cakes. Could not resist the cheap and tasty breads and cakes. They were so original! Next time must buy more. Bought home 6 breads and 2 cakes.

The shop is still like what I seen about 15 - 16 years ago. Everything looks the same except the auntie is now older (and me too).

We saw the familiar orange public phone outside the shop and it is really rarely to be seen in Singapore.

Monday blues

Monday again. So sad...

Today really no mood to work. We were like so lazy to work and began to chit chat during evening time.

As I was so lazy today, I told my colleagues that I did not want to continue my work and wanted to go home earlier. The rest said ok and all of us packed up and went off. Fast lei...

Reached home and my parents asked why I was so early today. Abnormal to reach home at 9+.

Brother-in-law's birthday

This evening, we had dinner at Demsey Road Longbeach Seafood restaurant again. It's to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday. My sister booked a room since she knew that we definitely can hit the min $600 meal for room booking.

Very chatty session and we were so noisy with 3 kids around. They enjoyed the food and we enjoyed the dinner. My mum and dad enjoyed the food too. Today's bamboo clams were really fresh and good. Heard it was flown in only this morning.

Natas Fair

This afternoon, I need to meet up with the electrician to decide on the layout of the power points and re-wiring. There are quite a number of relocation and after comparing the prices, I decided to re-wire the whole house to ensure all wiring are working properly to avoid malfunction at later stage. Another sum of money gone....

We went to Natas fair at evening and zoomed in to ASA travel. Decided on a package tour to Europe. My sister said she actually did not feel like going to Australia (our initial plan) and I also told her that since our parents can walk longer distance, why not bring them to a further place first. Next time then go for nearer vacation locations. She agreed because she also wants to go Europe.

It is a confirmed departure date tour hence we can proceed to apply leave. Departure date is 13 May and will not be a direct flight. We are taking Qatar Airway and transit at Doha. The sales agent said that it may not be a bad idea for transiting as my parents will not be so tired if there is a break in between. Transit is only 2 hrs so will not waste a lot of time.

After booking, we headed home as we paid by credit card to get free luggage. There are many different luggage by different banks. We chose UOB as the luggage looks nicer and the brand is Crossing. So pai sei... My card was declined due to insufficient credit limit and I had to call the bank to extend temporary credit limit increase. I used too much during CNY. :P

My dad reached home early so we went to the central for dinner. Had a very nice dinner.






After dinner, I went to Courts Megastore with my sister to choose the head board and colour of my new bed frame. Bought one new pillow each and I also bought a oven toaster. There was a promotion for Europace and rarely to find one that has heating core (not light bulb type) with temperature control. Most important is the promotional price is $39 from $59. I need one anyway so bought it.

Toilet bowl

So sad when my contractor called me this morning and told me that the toilet bowls I chose was having some problem. The size does not fit well to the pipes of my 2 toilets. Instead of 10 inches, I need 8 inches fitting. Otherwise, half of the pipe hole will be covered and means that only only 50% of the space left for water/toilet paper to flow through.

After checking, it was found that 8 inches fitting toilet bowl is difficult to find and may not have stock some time. In the end, it was decided to proceed to use the toilet bowls I bought and just need to be more gentle to my 2 toilet bowls. Cannot feed them too full. Otherwise, indigestion and will cause vomiting out of the toilet seats. Hahaha.... Disgusting right???

There was changes to the false ceiling design of my living room. It was found that the false ceiling may be too low hence the designer changed her drawing. It looks ok to me so shall proceed to the new drawing. I think they must be happy to have such good customer like me. Everything they proposed, I ok and ok and ok... :) This makes thing easier for them and will be happy to do the job properly for me.

Watched movie "This means war". It was so funny and created a lot of laughter. Good show to let us relax on Friday.

Hot hot

Woke up this morning and was feeling so hot hot and hot. The sun was so sunny and hot when I walked to the bus stop to take bus to Kovan Mrt station. The sweat was "free flow".

Afternoon, we went to Tiong Bahru Food Centre for lunch. The weather was same hot hot. After our lunch, we were feeling so full, tired and warm. Why no raining lei???

I am missing those days when the weather was good with cooling breeze. No need rain but just cool breeze is enough.

Felt no mood to work and got out of office earlier tonight at 8pm. Back home to watch J-drama and play slotomania. :P

Today, I continued to play slotomania. Very addictive. Now even 小珠 also joins in. With more friends playing, we can get more free coins. :)

So fast that it's Wednesday. We have booked tickets for Friday movie. Watching 9.20pm show so we will have time to eat dinner before the show. Hope can leave office early on Friday night and no need to rush to watch the movie + eat dinner.

I felt rather tired this few days. Don't know if it's because I played too much slotomania...

Dangerous game

I am now hooked to playing slotmania. Could not stop playing and hoping to win more. Accumulated to 30k and shall play slowwwwly. Indeed a very dangerous game. Luckily its not real money. :P

Very tired today. Perhaps woke up rather early yesterday to go shopping and back home late. No time to laze....

Meet plan

Took a day off today. Woke up and left house at 11am for early lunch. As we were going to Macpherson area to buy the toilet accessories, we went to the food center at Circuit Road. I used to go there when I was young. My grandparents stayed at that estate.

Had a good lunch today. Ate duck meat and kwap chap. Very good...



We went to Hoe Kee head office at Genting Lane. The showroom was not as big as Sin Siang Choon and items were not as many types but they did have rather good quality items. I decided to choose all the toilet accessories, toilet bowls, basins, sink, hob and water heaters from them. Will be easier for my reno contractor to arrange the delivery of the items to my new house for fitting. In total, spent $2500.

Instead of induction hob, I bought vitro-ceramic hob instead. The difference is induction hob is more safe as hand will not get burnt when you touch on it and vitro-ceramic hob will get hot on the stove zones. My sister asked me to buy it as it will be more prominent that the switch was on if I could see the reddish zone. If it is induction, will not know even if I accidentally forget to off it or switch on without notice. The other good thing is it is cheaper by a few hundreds. Spent more than 2 hours at the shop to choose the items.

After that, went to buy ceiling fan at Balestier Road. As I only need 1 set, there is no delivery for the item. Since my sister was driving today, just bought it and kept at home first. Complete my tasks for today.

Had dinner with my dad at Simei Eastpoint shopping mall. Chosen Paradise Inn as my sister longed to try it. The dishes were very good. Can go there again. We ordered quite a number of dishes with small portions. Finished all...











My colleague called me this evening and told me that the clock we ordered had arrived. She helped to bring it to me so that I did not need to carry back from office. Saw the clock and I am glad that I bought it. :)

Renovation progress

This afternoon, I asked my dad if he wanted to accompany me to take a look at the renovation of my house. The contractor gave me the lock password and I can go and have a look at any time. Since it is Sunday today and convenient to take a look without disturbing the workers, my dad drove me there. I could collect my mails at the same time.

Where we reached the carpark downstairs, I was wondering why the workers never close the windows for me. When I reached the unit, I saw a worker inside. He was doing some touch up work alone to prepare for tomorrow job. I just went in to take a look.

The living room floor tiles were completed. The wall tiles for the 2 toilets were put up. One part of the kitchen wall tiles were put up too. Everything looks good.

Glad that the toilets look so clean and bright now. No longer dull dull one. :P

The flowers design costs a bomb. Each tiles is $15. But if nice, worth the heart pain lah.

Stayed at home

Today, I am so lazy and decided to stay at home. My sister went to church conference and we could not do shopping today. Hence, taking leave on Monday to buy the toiletries etc plus to look for package tour for our family outing this year.

Had dinner at a coffee shop near Pasir Ris Central. Ordered a few dishes to share with my mum and dad. Forgot to take photo for one dish ~ salted egg prawns. The food were quite good and we packed back 2 crabs for enjoying at home. Yummy dinner = put on weight!

I asked my parents where they want to go for tour this year. Both of them said this year still want to go meh? I said can uh. They said I will spent so much on my house and still can go for tour? I said still go lah. My mum said Korea and I gave a hint that can go some where else. My dad said Australia uh. Bingo! Actually he said that because he has one colleague who stayed in Australia before and that is why he is interested. I told them better go while they have the strength to walk far distance. They agreed.

Ok lah... Shall check on Monday.

Favourite Day

My favourite Day of the week!

Had lunch with customer today hence sad that I could not dress down for this day. Went to Xi Yan restaurant at Craig Road and the food was nice. Six course lunch was just nice. I remembered the previous time I went, my colleague ordered a 12 course dinner and everyone were so full until could not eat.

This evening, left office early and had dinner at O'Coffee Club. Finally had a chance to use my groupon vouchers. Expiring in March and I still have 6 vouchers. Oh yah. I still have one voucher to clear before 26 Feb for LJS. Should be no problem lah.

We were not late for our movie tonight. Watched 9.35pm show. Watched "Safe House" and the plot was good. Very exciting but the sound effects were too good that we were frightened by the sudden loud sound for a few scenes. Overall... Good!

As soon as the movie finished, we zoomed all the way to the exit. We were the first to get down the staircases and glad that we managed to catch the last train from HarbourFront station to connect trains to the East and West at Outram Park station. Could save money as no need to take cab. :)

Ramen!

This afternoon, we went to Ippudo - Tao restaurant for lunch. 10 of us and we took the private room. Not for free!!! Min spending is $25 per pax.

We ordered the set as it came with salad, side dish and drinks. Just top up $5 each. End of the meal, ordered some ice-cream as we still lacked $7 to make up enough min spending.

Real good food today. Cannot resist uh. Must go back again...

Book tickets

It's Wednesday and we managed to book tickets for our movie session on this Friday.

Nothing much happened today and basically I managed to leave office by 8 plus. Hope everyday can do that. :)

1st payment

This morning, I made a trip to my new house to meet up with the tiling contractor. Had to make the 1st payment as hacking work started yesterday.

It was so noisy and dusty. I really pity my neighbours. My plan is to buy some chocolates and treat them for the inconvenience caused. At the same time, can introduce myself to the few neighbours near my unit (3 of them).

Got the quotation from both tiling and reno contractor. Total up to about 40k. Will add up to 50k if I include toilet accessories, furnitures, electric work, air conditioner, fans etc. Big hole in my pocket. One off so don't think too much now. Am looking forward to see my brand new house next month.

Nice food

This afternoon, had lunch with customer at Lei Garden. We ordered some tim sum and some dishes. The food were good and can go there next time. However, the feedback was the service dropped and not so personalize now.

Stayed to clear some work and left office at about 9.30pm. Rather tired today as I could not sleep well yesterday. Phone calls at 1.30am and 3.30am to settle some issue. Hope tonight can sleep through the night without any disturbance.

Tuesday tomorrow. I need to spend some time doing some research. Boss chasing liao...

Buy buy buy

This afternoon, I went to Expo John Little Mega sales. Bought 2 sets of bedsheets for my new bed. They were having 70 - 80% discount so buy lor...

We bought a trolley of items. Oh.. have to explain that its not all mine. It included things that my elder sister bought. A lot of titbits for my niece too. :)

My younger sister and I bought a set of quilt cover each to replace our "wooly" blankets. Hope that will solve our "wooly" problem.

Having headache since yesterday evening. Now still having. Must be "that" lor...

Well, will try to sleep earlier tonight.

My legs are breaking

This afternoon, we took bus to Jalan Besar to look for the shop that my contractor introduced. Other than that shop, we walked in to have a look at other shops too. Went to Balestier Road to look for suitable lighting too. Also went to Sin Siang Choon to take a look at the toilet accessories. Our conclusion is that Sin Siang Choon has a wide varieties of the toilet accessories. No doubt price will be more expensive but at least there are more choices.

We walked for almost 5 hours and with my "quite new" shoe, I could not walk properly when my legs began to grow pain. I was trying my best to walk properly.

Ended up at NEX as we wanted to take a look at prices for air-conditioner. I got a quote from one company that can uninstall and install aircon for my new house. Need to compare the prices to see if it is better to get from Courts/Best Denki/other shops. Looks like the models I have is different hence difficult to compare the prices. The promoter at Courts recommended Europace. Sounds good but I was wondering if the promoter is it for Europace and not Court's staff. He really promoted Europace until other brands are not really worth the money....

By the time I reached home, my legs gave up on me and I just laid on the sofa without even took out my sling bag. I did not want to move until my sister called me many many times to bathe.

Felt better now and shall sit down to let my legs rest....

Movie

Today, finally we watched one movie after 2 weeks break. We bought tickets for 9.15pm show for "Underworld Awakening". So happy.

Before the movie, we went to LJS and ordered the set I purchased from Groupon. It was really a good deal. So many items for just $4.45 (I bought $9.90 for set for 2 pax). I will definitely buy again when there is such deal.



We were late for about 5 mins as I wasted some time when I bought a handphone cover and screen protector sheet for my new BB. Should be ok since we still followed the story with no problem in understanding. Quite a good movie.

Now, looking forward for tomorrow. Has to shop and look for suitable basins, lighting, induction cooker and toilet accessories.

Normal day

Nothing special happened today. Just a normal working day. Not sure why but these few days, we had been working quite late. Hope this is temporary only.

This few days, we are being disturbed by at least 12 birds in the morning. They are so noisy when all of them chirp at the same time. They are eating berries from the tree near to our building. Guess have to wait for them to finish up all the berries then they will leave. Took a picture of few of them. Can see 3 of them???



My colleague went to buy very nice carrot cake (western) and it came with free cupcakes. I was so full until could not eat the cupcakes. Hence, just took the photo of the 2 little cute cakes.

Early

So fast that it's Wednesday today. Left 2 more days to go...

Left early today as I went to my colleague's new house to see her furniture. At least to get some ideas. When I reached home, I looked at the samples that the reno contractor couriered over yesterday, there are so many choices. I still do not have any idea on what colour to choose.

Thought of going for grey theme but I need to have good combination in order not to make the whole house looks boring. Headache uh!

New mobile phone

Got my office mobile phone replaced with Blackberry Bold. Just in time because my charger for old phone was spoilt and could not charge. Suppose to inform Admin dept to get a new charger for me but no need now as I got a new phone.

So tired today. Left office late as I need to clear some work. Tomorrow needs to be earlier as there are a lot of "homework" for me to do as reno work will start on Thursday and lots of things to shop and buy. 2 booklets of cardboard laminating board samples are sent to me. I need to choose those that I like so that a bigger piece cannot be brought to me to have a better feel of the material etc.

Busy schedule starts now.

Finally!

I am so happy today that it's finally the last day of CNY. Ate the 11th lou hei meal this afternoon and glad that no more heavy lunches. Tomorrow can back to normal to eat hawker food. :)

Met up with reno contractor this morning to let them see the tiles I've chosen. So far ok and the removal of old wardrobes and kitchen cabinets etc will start tomorrow. Hacking job will start on Thursday. Heard that the toilets and flooring should be able to complete within 2 weeks. Hence the whole renovation work should be able to complete in mid March or earlier.

Now, I need to do lots of shopping to look for aircon units, ceiling fan, lightings and toilet accessories etc. Will be busy during weekends.

Am now thinking if I should change all my windows....

Sumptuous dinner

Watched j-dramas at home until its time to leave house for our dinner at Long Beach Seafood restaurant at Dempsey Road. We had reserved a table at 5.30pm and prepared to enjoy the alaska crab.

It's the celebration of my mum's birthday. Hence we decided to give her a treat since she was longing to eat the alaska crab again. Last year CNY, we went there and first tried the alaska crab and we are being "hooked" to it.

We decided not to take the set menu and chose the dishes we wanted. Not to forget about the alaska crab. Today, we ordered one which was 3.2kg. It's smaller than the one we ate last year. Last year smallest one was 5kg that cost $800+. This year, it's $500+. No regret to pay for it. All of us enjoyed tonight dinner. Yummy!
