Ergonomics

Today, our company engaged ergonomist came to my workstation for assessment. I have frequent numbness on my right hand tip and headaches. Hope after adjusting my sitting posture, these will go away. I hate to have headaches as it makes me unable to do alot of things but to lie down and rest. If the pain is severe, I even have to take panadol. Shall monitor a few weeks to see if it really helps. :)

My dear niece

Its Sunday. My niece came to our house as usual. Same routine, she has to finish her homework before starting to play. Poor thing... Even Sunday also have to study. Told my sister not to pressure her and my sister said she is not and her daughter has a lot of time to play during weekdays which I didn't get to see. Therefore, no pressure on her at all.

After she finished her homework, she started to ask for my DS. Her only game is Super Mario. She played for a while and switched to play internet online game (Y3 and Y8). Reason? Cos she could not cross one of the stage of Super Mario and gave up. While she was playing the internet game, my sister took over my DS. She played a while and went back to take back DS from my sister. Ai yoh... she so fickle minded.

My little niece has grown taller and more mature. Now in Pri 3. She is still very careless and just got hurt in school. She had a great fall (四脚朝天) and now having blue blacks on her knees and some bleeding. However, she is still running about. Not afraid of falling again. Maybe thats what a kid will go through when young. Maybe I was like that before. :)

Last day of the week to rest. Tomorrow is another new week. Hope tomorrow will have a great start and work will be smoother than this week.

Its weekend!

Finally its Saturday. Am longing for this day to come. I am so tired for the whole week. Just moved to our new workstation on Monday and the whole week was so busy for me. Whole day busy answering calls as there were problems almost everyday. Told myself that I have to go to the temple for prayer to hope all these will end soon.

Today went to temple at Bugis with my mum. Hope work wise will turn better and problems to go away. Some of my colleagues said "风水不好". However, do hope this is not the case and will end such unwanted problems.

After the prayer, went to nearby OG and Bugis Junction. Was hungry so we went to MOF for our so-called dinner (at 4pm). We skipped lunch so took early dinner then. Applied for the priviledge card so that we can dine there more often. The food is nice and there are wide varieties of desserts. We liked the sesame ice-cream. So nice. Yum yum.

Went shopping at BHG and surprisingly, I managed to buy some T-shirts and 2 piece of long sleeves T-shirt. Don't mistaken that I am crazy to wear long sleeves when it is so hot in Singapore. It is for my overseas trip lah. :)

Busy Friday

Today had been a busy day for me and my colleagues. We moving to our new workstation and were busy doing unpacking after lunch. Too many stuffs and were having headaches on how to squeeze all our belongings into our small cabinet. Those items that really cannot fit in, we have to throw away if its not too important. Good time to part with things that are not really of use but just want to keep them. The move was smooth and thanks to those who helped to organise for us.

It has been a week and finally its our usual movie day today. We watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" at 7.35pm. This is a long movie that last 166mins. For those who likes fast pace movie may find this a bit slow. However, we liked the story and don't find it boring at all. I am just wondering if there is really a clock in this world that moves backward. Very touching on some parts and really think this is a good movie. Tends to think of how life will be liked for me when I am old. Well its still early to think of it now. Hope I can enjoy what's coming up for me for rest of the years.

Well, its time for me to continue with my homework for my Japan trip. Will do it fast and have a good rest. Rather tired but still wish to do some work before jumping onto my bed. Hee hee.

Ready for the MOVE!

Today we started to prepare for our office move from 10th floor to 2nd floor of the building. I did not start packing until 8pm. Have to complete my work first before dumping all documents into the box.

The mover will be moving our boxes during lunch hour tomorrow (Friday). Therefore, we have to finish packing before lunch time. In order not to be too rush, most of our colleagues completed their packing today. For those items which are fragile, we will hand carry them.

I am starting to miss my current workstation. Mainly because the new workstation will be smaller in size and will not be able to fit in all my barang barang. Guess I have to start throwing my things tomorrow while unpacking.

Well. This is actually a good time for me to part with things that I keep for so long but of no use. Ha ha....

Shopping with my niece

Its Sunday. We planned to have dinner at Sun with Moon restaurant - Wheelock Place to celebrate my mother's birthday. Since going down to town, we went to Ngee Ann City for shopping in the afternoon.

Arranged to meet at 3.00pm and my niece said she wanted to go to the stationery dept at Takashimaya to buy something. So 6 adults accompanied her to the stationery dept and after looking around, she said there was nothing much for her to buy. Therefore, we proceeded to Kinokuniya and she stayed there for almost 45mins and bought a mechanical pencil, sharpener and eraser.

We shopped at Paragon and I bought some towels and bedsheets from Aussino as they are having sales. 50% uh! So just buy lor. Anyway I need to buy new sets so just nice. After that, we proceeded to the restaurant for our dinner.

We had a corner table and it is comfortable and quiet. The food served very fast after we ordered. The quality of the food is very good and we enjoyed the dinner. My parents are very happy with this restaurant food. Next time, will bring them there again.

Back home now and will continue to plan for my Japan trip. じゃね.

Fun Night

How time flies. It's weekend again. Yesterday evening, we had our dept Chinese New Year dinner at Raffles City Convention Centre. Our team reached the venue at 8pm with my boss waiting there (He went there early but forgotten to bring his invitation card for registration!).

We were given a packet of chips during the registration and wondering what were they for. Then we saw many people crowding around few tables just outside the ballroom and they were playing games. I joined the fun and won $50 worth of chips. Lucky lucky. My boss joked that the chips can be exchanged for real cash but the answer is no. It was to play another round of games at the dinner.

The dinner started with a warm up session whereby the DJ asked all guests to rise and move forward towards the stage. Followed the DJ to do a few rounds of simple "hand dance". Very warming up session and this session helped to make everyone awake and excited for the rest of the night.

The whole night was full of entertainments and we enjoyed the Wushu performance, games, lucky draws etc. Too bad, I was not lucky and never get the lucky draw. 小珠 is the only one from our team to get a prize. So so lucky! Its a digital photo frame! She can store all her photos taken during her holidays. Ha ha. Hope next year, its my turn. :)

Very exciting and fun friday night without our usual Friday movie. It's ok. We can watch movie again next week. :P

め, Eye, 眼

Today I took a day off (to clear leave) hence was able to sleep longer and woke up at around 9.15am. No special reason to take leave but just need to go for my appointment with eye specialist. Last year around August, I got eye inflammation (left eye) and have to go for few follow up appointments to ensure no recurrence. Will need to go for another appointment in six months time and hope all will be alright and can discharge from SNEC. Good Luck!

On my way to Outram MRT station, it rained suddenly and was so heavy downpour that I got wet immediately though I was carrying umbrella. The rain was at central area only as it was sunny at east area.

Uh uh uh... tomorrow has to go to work... How I wish I can be on leave for few more days. But think of it, if I take more days, will have to clear backlogs when back in office. No no no...

Now I have new "homework". I am planning a trip with 小珠 to Japan. We just went to Japan last November covering Tokyo and part of Tohoku region. Now we are planning to go Japan again this April. This time round, we are going to some places in Chubu region. Targetting Nagano and Toyama prefectures. Will touch Tokyo too. Now I am very excited and looking forward to the planning.

Japan Japan..... いきます! Hopefully we can catch a glimpse of cherry blossom. Sakura Sakura..... wait for me!

Trip to temple to 拜太岁

Every year, I will make a trip to Toa Payoh temple "双林寺" during Chinese New Year. It's to pray for our good health and luck for the new year. This afternoon, I went with my parents and brother as usual.

We reached there at around 2.30pm and it was not so crowded. This year I 犯太岁 hence need to pray to keep bad luck away. Not too sure if I will really be that bad luck but its better to do what my mum said. Anyway, I can also pray for good health and smooth year ahead.

It was coincidence that we met our relatives and my parent's friend at the temple. There were so many people there and yet we bumped into them. :)

Took some photos of the temple and flowers that I found them with nice colour. It was rather hot today hence we only stayed a while and head back home.

Today is everyone's birthday (农历初七 - 人日) and we celebrated this day by having dinner at a restaurant near my house. The boss is from Hong Kong and the food tastes good. Prices are reasonable too. We knew the boss there and he usually recommend us new menu. We had some 寿桃 as complimentary.

Lost 5 dollars... Still lucky!

Saturday morning, I woke up rather early (10am is consider early for me on Saturday) and went to White Sands Shopping centre with my parents and younger sister. We went to POSB to change all of our passbooks. Too long never update and the blank pages are finishing soon. After that, proceeded to OCBC bank to open joint account for my father and myself. Told my father that the interest rate is better than keeping cash at home which is zero.

My aunt and elder sister families came to our house today. My cousins and niece were busy playing psp and ds as usual. For me, was busy clearing some of my work and entertaining them at the same time. By the way, my cousins are Pri 6 to Sec 4 students. Very young as my aunt get married late.

Evening, I went to my boss house for visiting. Played blackjack and at the end of the game, overall lost $5 dollars. I lose during the 4 round as banker. Think this year luck is to play with kids and not adults. Ha ha... Well, its ok since its just once a year game and I didn't lost too much. Still lucky!

TGIF

TGIF! TGIF! TGIF!

It's FRIDAY! Finally it's time for me to enjoy the weekend. Although it is a short week for work this week, I am still longing for Friday to arrive.

Today is quite a peaceful day for me as at least I was not running about in the office with my "red face" (my face turns red when I am getting stressful). Perhaps it was due to not many phone calls from customers therefore can use the time to finish up my work on time. Although I cannot finish all work within today but am satisfied with what I had completed.

Few of my colleagues were on leave today hence left with 3 of us having lunch together. Usually our lunch kakis comprises of at least 5 pax and can be as big group as 10 pax. Though only 3 of us, we enjoyed our lunch.

I've just watched movie "Inkheart" with 小珠. We enjoyed the movie and overall rated this as a good one. I ensured myself that I won't miss this movie as I am rather disappointed that I missed "City of Amber". Do not understand why GV Vivo did not have this movie and ultimately I missed it due to timing issue that I can't watch it at another theater. So bad hor...

Well, will now continue to watch J-drama "Team Batista no Eiko". Can't wait to know who is the murderer in the operating theater.

Movie again

Today, we are not planning for any visiting to our relative houses and will be "free n easy" at home. Woke up rather late today. Just one more day to relax before going back to work tomorrow.

My sister asked if I want to bring our parents to watch a movie since there is nothing to do at home. Hence we surfed the net and managed to book tickets for "The Wedding Game" at Downtown East Cathay Cineleisure for this evening show.

My parents seldom watch movies hence we try to bring them whenever there is any suitable ones for them. Need to be humorous and must be in Chinese. My dad liked to watch English action movies but my mum can't understand. Hence... too bad for my dad, we have to choose Chinese movies each time.

Its so fast... Have to start work again tomorrow. This week will be a busy week for me. However, I hope everything will go well and let's 加油!

Its Ox Year!

Finally its the Ox year! We had our reunion dinner at home on New Year eve and as usual, we are having steamboat. This year, we had told our mum not to prepare too much food as our stomach "ullage" cannot hold too much now. Not like when we are younger, we can eat and eat without stopping. Perhaps due to we are older now, we can't eat as much compared to few years ago.

First day of the lunar year, we went to our aunt house together with my sister family and my brother-in-law god sister family. Strange to hear my brother-in-law god sister family visiting my aunt? Well they know each other quite well during events like my niece's birthday or short trip to Malaysia etc.

We played blackjack with the kids and thought that we can't win their money too much as worried that they will cry if they lost. But.... it ended up the kids are the ultimate winner! With just 0.50 cents capital, they can win more than $30! My cousin won $58! Where did the money come from??? Its from my sister and brother in law. Guessed they lost around $100. My younger sister also lost around $40. Luck is with me this year. I won about $35. Hee hee...

However, we strongly emphasized to the kids that only once a year we can play blackjack and they can only play with us and not with their friends or outsiders.

Its movie time again

One week passed. Its so fast and Chinese New Year is approaching. This year is too busy for me that I don't feel the sign of welcoming the new year. Hope the Ox year will give me the "push" to do whatever I did not fulfill in the Rat year and wish the coming year will be smooth and prosperous for me and my family. Most important is to have good health. :)

Yesterday went to watch "Bride Wars" with 小珠. Hee hee... this time round there is English subtitles. I like this movie as it is very humorous and touching on the friendship between the 2 good friends. Its so sad when both relationship turn sour. However, like fairy tales, it has a good ending. Watch it! Nice one!

It will be a long weekend + holiday as Monday and Tuesday are New Year holidays. Telling myself to control control and control. Not to eat too much goodies else disaster!

2 Movies in 1 day

Yesterday (Friday), I've watched 2 movies on the same day. Not because I am rich lah.

The 1st movie "Seven Pounds" was watched during lunch time with colleagues from our dept for celebrating good result for 4Q08. Its at Gold Class theater. We took the set lunch and were so full that we could not finish all our food. I ordered Thai fishcake as appetiser, pizza as main menu, brownie with ice-cream as dessert and ice-lemon tea. 小珠 ordered assorted dim-sum as appetiser, chicken wings as main menu, brownie with ice-cream as dessert and ice-lemon tea. We shared the appetisers and main menu as we were sitting next to each other.

The 2nd movie "Milk" was watched after work. It has become our routine to watch a movie after work on almost every Friday. To our surprise, this movie has no English or Chinese subtitles!!! Didn't do "homework" before watching... I ended up a bit blurred on some parts as I couldn't understand the contents. I better improve my listening comprehension. Ha ha...

The movie ended at around 11.30pm and we tried our luck by taking MRT home. Luckily this time round, we were still early by 1 train and need not rush for the last train/bus home.

Arrival of Magazines

Today is the 2nd day I went to office early. Usually I will be in office around 10 - 10.15am. Now I am trying to reach office before 9.30am. Rather tired for waking up 1 hour earlier but have to try to get use to it... 加油!!!

Not sure if age is really catching up. Today, I forgot to buy lunch for my colleague again. Already reminding myself not to forget but ultimately, still forget about it. Luckily 小珠 reminded me before I returned to office. I am so absent minded...

I ordered some magazines from Japan through 小珠 and the first batch arrived. It's Junon Feb 2009 and Cool-Up Jan 2009 issues. Wow wow....

Dad's Birthday + Parents Wedding Anniversary

Today is my dad's lunar birthday. It is also our parent's wedding anniversary. Since it is Sunday and everyone is not working, we decided to dine out for celebration.

We went to the newly open Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel for buffet dinner. The hotel has very classy look and the restaurant, Azur, is offering international buffet. We had a very filling dinner there and all agreed that we are now too "old" and can no longer go for many rounds.

My niece was so happy there as she can eat her favourite spagatties and cold soba. They have great spread of desserts (cakes, fruits, puddings, biscuits, ice-cream etc) and what caught my eyes is the eat all you can haagen dazz ice-cream. Wow.... yummy yummy. But too bad, I was so full that I could not eat too much of it.

My dad was so contented and said that we can go there often. Ha ha...

小娘惹 fever

Today, my mum asked if we (my sis and me) want to go to East Coast Road to visit the stall that sells nonya kuahs and is the stall that "小娘惹" was filmed. We had no objections and took a bus there. Though the queue to buy the kuahs was not long, but you can see that "小娘惹" can really draw the crowds to buy nonya kuahs.

The name of the shop/restaurant is 金珠小厨 (Kim Choo's Kitchen Pte Ltd). They also have a gallary at the 2nd storey. We took our lunch there and was satisfied with the dishes and the prices are reasonable too.

It was a short trip there but my mum was happy with it. Perhaps we will make another trip there again when my mum has the crave again. Ha ha...

Its friday!

Yippy yippy. It's Friday! Finally weekend arrived. Was feeling so tired for the whole week and counting down to Friday so that I can rest on Saturday and Sunday with lots and lots of sleep. Ha ha.

As usual, went to watch movie with 小珠 today. We watched "The Duchess" at GV Vivo. This is the first time we watched at Cinema Europa. Before the show, we are wondering how does this theater looks like as the ticket price is more expensive. Now we know that this theater has bigger and more comfortable seats than normal theater.

Both of us are contented with the story of this movie and the ticket price is worth it. Kind of sympathise the duchess who has to sacrifice her whole life for her children sake.

After the movie, we went to have dinner at White Dog Cafe and we ordered similar dishes that we used to order. Loyalty uh... Food serves here is very nice but with rather big portion. Hence we usually share one main course with soup and a side dish. However... it is still very filling.

Cheeky Chicken ~ Chickadees

On my way back home today, I was craving for Chickadees again.... This snack is still one of my favourite after so many years.

When I was in Primary school, I used to buy a packet from "mama shop" near school and ate while walking back home. Another old time snack is "KaKa". May still see some shops still selling this. The one we can see now is in red packaging and I remembered during the old days, there was also another flavour with green packaging.
