Rest first

Today, its my last day to rest before going back to work tomorrow. Spent few hours clearing emails and seems like today's emails are exceptional more in volume.

Watched a few episodes of J-dramas and still have quite a few to complete. Doubt I can finish all backlogs by today. Shall take my time to clear slowly.

So sad... Back to work tomorrow.

At home

We unpacked our luggages last night. Today, continued with our clothes washing. 5 persons clothing were a lot uh. No place to hang liao.

Whole afternoon, I was clearing my office emails. Wanted to clear them so that I know whats going on and can continue with my work when I am back in office on Tuesday.

Had dinner at Sushi Tei @ Tampines One. We wanted to try one more time. See if the standard is back to previous. So far so good lah. The sashimi slices were not so thin like the one I ate on my previous trip.

Shopped for a while after dinner and went home. My dad went to collect durians. The uncle called my dad and said there were good durians.

One more day to rest before going back to reality on Tuesday.

End of holiday

We had some free n easy time till 12noon before we took coach to airport.

Went to Sogo again and bought some goodies from the supermarket. The main mall opened at 11am. Very late hor... In the end, we left 30mins to shop around. My sis did not buy anything yet hence wanted to find some shoes. We zoomed in to the shoes area once the store opened. As we were very early waiting for the store to open, we managed to see those staff greeting at the door. Was so surprised to see 2 lady serving some drinks to shoppers waiting near the door before 11am. Japanese company really do differently to attract people. This is the culture I like and thus still want to go back to Japan. :P

In 20mins, we bought 5 pairs of shoes. 2 for me. 2 for my sis and 1 for my mum. My brother had no time to look slowly and in the end did not buy any. We took cabs back to hotel and was on time to meet the rest before 12 noon. After that, we headed to airport.

For this trip, the hotels are all very good. Food wise, eee... not too good as the standard is like that lah. The tour guide said no matter you joined which travel agency, you are eating similar meals. Tour guide wise, is good. He gave us a lot of information on the history of the places we visited and also gave us a lot of health tips/advices. This trip is like a health talk trip. However, all his talk all linked to the places we were visiting lah. Just that, the information he gave us made us find more worth to buy the products.

I will have 2 days to rest before starting work. Shall sleep till very very late tomorrow uh.

Back to Taipei

Woke up super early today and had a rushed breakfast. The breakfast started at 6.30pm and we had to finish eating by 6.55am in order to be on time to board the coach.

Initial plan was we would travel by train back to Taipei and coach would travel by highway to Taipei with our luggages. However, the news reported that due to recent landslide that damage part of the highway road (only road back to Taipei from Hualien), we had to carry our own luggages and board the train back to Taipei. The coach has to stay in Hualien for few days until the temporary road is ready. There is a need to dig another road as the old road was completely damaged (a portion almost all gone).

We were so lucky that we are not planning to travel by road back to Taipei. Earlier on when we booked the tour package, we were told that it would be faster to take train than travel by road. Actually, it is a compulsory act to safeguard tourist safety. There are frequent earthquakes and landslides are common. We hope that no one is injured on this recent landslide. Wanted to watch the news on this report but maybe timing no good. We had no chance to watch it.

The train seats were very narrowed and we had to "squeeze" our big luggages in between the seats. There was no luggage holding area. Luckily, we only took a short distance and alighted at the 3rd stops. The travelling time is 1 hour.

Today's 1st itinerary was to have lunch at Taipei 101 85th floor restaurant. ASA is the only travel agency that the restaurant accepted to serve tour group. For time being, no other agencies has this in their itineraries. As we were just given 2 hours to have lunch + shopping, by the time we finished our lunch (fine dining but quite fast serving), we left 45mins to walk around the shopping mall. Did not buy anything again.

Next, we stopped to buy pineapple tarts from their famous store (No 1 pineapple tarts awarded for 5 consecutive years). We bought some other items and made it to store in a box for easier check in. No need to stuff in our luggages. Good lei.

After that, we went to Ximending (西门町) for shopping. Was just given 1 1/2 hr and we only walked around and bought some of their local food to munch. Stopped at a store selling socks and we each bought a few pairs. Made in Taiwan so should be safe lah.

After that, we were sent to hotel and the night is free and easy. Our hotel is quite near Sogo so we walked about 15mins and reached the mall. Had a good dinner at 鼎泰奉. This is the store that has good standard. Standard dropped for the few branches in Singapore. Origin still the best. By the time we finished our dinner, it was quite late hence we walked to a 24 hour bookshop. Walked the wrong way and took addition time to reach there. Found 3 of the recommended books by our tour guide. Books in Taipei are cheap. The 3 books cost NT$810 only which is about S$7 averagely. Wanted to buy one more but could not find it.

So fast, tomorrow we are going back to Singapore.

Long journey

This morning, we had a long travelling to Hualien (花莲). A place with lots of earthquakes.

4 hours of travelling and I slept during the trip as there was nothing to do. Our tour guide is good as he talked a lot on health topics that kept most of us listening to his talk. He gave quite a lot of info as he is a researcher on chinese medicine. He told us.... If you are drinking mike, STOP IMMEDIATELY! He said that milk is not giving us any good to our health and will harm us. He recommended few books for us to read and said that many people want to buy books from Taiwan as only Taiwan dares to publish the truth. We will try to find the books and buy for reading. Hee hee... I can have excuse not to drink milk liao.

When we reached Hualien, we visited Taroko Gorge first. We walked to the waterfall with spring water. Our tour guide told us the origin of this place and it made the trip not so boring.

Next we went to Lingzhi center. Same thing, attended a talk and though we told ourselves that we would not buy any products, in the end bought the lingzhi tablets and royal jelly. Cost us a bomb. However, it is for health care. So ok lah. Heart a bit pain... but home these products can bring us good health and nice complexion. The lingzhi tablets are actually for my parents to lower down their cholesterol and high blood. I intent to eat too to see if it can lower my bolder line high blood pressure.

After buying, I am still wondering now whether we bought it because of the usefulness of the products or are our minds waiver due to the persuasion by the staff???

Tonight's hotel room is a simple one as we are now at a ulu countryside. Had to sleep earlier as tomorrow, we have to leave the hotel by 7am. It will be another long journey back to Taipei.

Long journey

After breakfast, we travelled to Taitung (台东). Today's itinerary was to visit 佛光寺 and a shop selling pearls.

Had quite a long walk at the temple and the sky turned a bit dark when it was near to the end of the tour. Luckily no rain. Else it would be troublesome.

Attended a talk at the pearl shop. It was mentioned that Taiwan's pearls were the best. Even Michelle Obama likes them. Many of our tour members bought edible pearls and grinded to powder form. We did not buy that but bought a pearl necklace and pair of earrings for her. She longing for one and this made her so happy.

Tonight, we are staying at a hotspring hotel. It is a modern hotel with hotspring water available in every room. We can have private hotspring bath. I did not have a hotspring bath but my sis and I had a hotspring foot bath.

Drums play

Today, the itinerary was not so pack. We could wake up a bit later.

After breakfast, we proceeded to Ten Drum Culture Village at Tainan (台南). We toured around the compound and tried playing the drums. Was taught how to play and we had a competition to see which group played the best. Enjoyed it but after that, we were all sweating. Today, the weather was super hot.

We watched a 30mins drum show (luckily was indoor) played by the members and it was very good show. They played so well and we enjoyed it.

Before dinner, we were dropped at 安平古堡 for a short tour and ate the local famous 棺材板. We just bought 2 small ones to try as we were going for dinner soon. Also tried their famous prawn fritters. They were very good.

Had diner and went straight to hotel. Arrived hotel quite early and hence had more time to laze around.

Hot hot day

Woke up and found giraffes and zebras outside window. The room was facing these animals so that guests could viewed them at close distance. It's the main attraction for this hotel. Our room was upgraded to 2 storey room for 6 pax. So lucky.

Went to Leofoo theme park. Nothing much as it's Monday and many rides were under maintenance. There were student tour today. Otherwise the park would be very quiet. No queue but many rides, I dared not try. Should know what I meant lah.

Travelled to Sun Moon lake for a cruise plus visit a temple that was rebuilt after the 921 earthquarke. Ate the popular Ah Ma tea egg. Very nice uh.

Visit Feng Jia night market for shopping. Finally bought something. 2 small wall lamps and one windbreaker from Addidas.

After that, headed back to hotel.

Arrived Taipei

Reached Taipei yesterday afternoon but due to SQ flight tour members arrived 2 hours later than us, we were sent to Tai Mall which was near to airport for shopping. Nothing to buy and just went for drinks. At night, we went to the famous Shilin night market for dinner. Had XXL chicken cutlet, oyster pancake, big biscuit wrapped w small biscuit, smelly tou fu and fried squid. Headed back to hotel quite late yesterday night.

Today, we went to Dan Shui in the morning for a short walk. Nothing much and just tried the long ice-cream. After that, we proceeded to Jiu Fen and had lunch there. Tried their local dish (fishball soup). Bought some goodies back. Their peanuts are famous. In the afternoon, we proceeded to Yeliu to watch the mysterious rocks. Queen's head rock, slipper etc are the popular ones.

Night time, we proceeded to Leofoo Village for a night stay. The resort has animals waiting for you. :)

Shall enjoy this trip. Waiting for a good break.

Holiday mood

Finally it's Friday! Tomorrow I am flying to Taipei for my holiday with my parents, younger sis and bro.

The weather also made me felt so sleepy and wished today no need to go to work like my sis. She is taking block leave which starts today.

Completed my work and instead of watching movie (which I can't), we went for dinner at Koufu food court near Commonwealth MRT station. Our colleague gave us a lift there. We shared fried kway tiao and fried prawn noodles. Complete the meal with ice-kacang. They were good. For the fried kway tiao and fried prawn noodles, the stall will be closed down after today. Glad that we managed to eat one last time.

Getting ready for tomorrow! First trip to Taiwan.

Back

Today, 小珠 is back in office. So fast that 14 days passed.

She was back with big bags of goodies for us to eat. A bit tanned but looking great after a good break (although she is having jetlag and feeling very sleepy).

This is a gift from her. At first, I thought she bought a bottle of wine for me. A closer look, it is a bottle of maple syrup. Can eat with pancakes or waffles. Yummy...

Came home very late after clearing my work. Had done my handover list and I can pass to my colleagues tomorrow. Yippy! One more day to go...

Cup of Latte

This morning, met up with my financial planner to discuss about buying mortgage loan insurance. When I reached Starbucks, saw that she bought coffee for me. Oh dear! I don't drink coffee but so pai sei to reject since she already bought, so tried to take little sips in order to prevent myself ended up with stomachache.

The cup of latte was rather nice. No need to put too much sugar and the coffee taste not so strong. After telling my colleague then realised latte is full of milk uh. I did not finish the whole cup. Managed to drink about half. Luckily "nothing" happened to me. :)

Tomorrow 小珠 will be back in office. So fast uh... 14 days gone and her trip ended. Next will be mine. I still have a lot of things to clear and to prepare handover list to my colleagues so that they can follow up outstanding issues with my customers.

Pray hard that I can finish the list by tomorrow. Friday cannot go back late. I still yet to pack my luggage.

3 days to go

3 more days and I can finally give myself a break.

As usual, worked and worked the whole day without stopping. Ta bao work back again since I could follow my colleague's car home. Managed to clear some work before leaving office at 8.15pm. Reached home to continue the rest.

Tomorrow and the rest of the week will be busy week. Wish me good luck to be able to squeeze more time out to complete all tasks before going on leave.

Busy busy busy

First day of coverage for my colleague. Was in a mess as I had to handle my customers stuff and no time to do paperwork.

Need to go back early to meet the banker to sign letter of offer. Did same thing again... ta bao work home to do. Otherwise, tomorrow will be jammed up again.

Its ok... will be able to cope slowly. Need to prepare my handover list for my colleagues to cover me when I am on leave. Counting down....

Found it finally!

Our trip is on coming Saturday morning. High chance is that I will work late coming week as my colleague is on leave for 3 days and I need to cover her work. Need to clear as much work as possible so that I can go for my leave without worries.

Started to pack some of my clothing and bring down my luggage from cupboard top. Was hoping that I can find the pullover that bought from National Geographic. I wore once for Hokkaido trip and could not find it when I wanted to bring along for my Switzerland trip in April this year.

Strange that it just disappeared. My mum asked if I had accidentally thrown it away which I confirmed no. I even called my elder sister whether it was with her.

Finally... when I was clearing one of the luggage which will let my brother use, I found it. It was packed together with my mum and dad cold wears. Ai Yoh... must be my sister who thought it belongs to my mum or dad. Made me feel so sad when I could not find it.

Glad that I found it. :)

Haircut

Woke up and got ready for my haircut at 2pm. Finally I can have neat look. Was on time today and due to no other booking, my hairstylist attended to me exclusively today and I managed to finish my haircut within an hour. So good...

After the haircut, I decided to go to Raffles City to buy 2012 datebook from NBC store. Managed to get a cut baby minnie and mickey datebook.

Took train to Bugis BHG and bought travel storage bag from Muji. Think and think... decided to buy lah. Not cheap uh. Tried to find cheaper version at Daiso but could not find. No choice lah.

Forgot that we yet to buy travel size toothpaste. Therefore, went to Fairprice supermarket to buy some travel necessities. Went home with 2 big bags and like an auntie finishing marketing. Ha ha...

My sister not coming home tonight as she is staying at Ritz Carlton. To celebrate birthday for her good friend.

Too lazy to start my office leftover work. Shall do it tomorrow lah.

Circle Line

Today, its my first time riding train home via Circle line. All my colleagues not working late today hence I decided to bring my work home and hence left office at 8.50pm.

Since its still early, I decided to try taking train from Labrador station to Buona Vista station and change to East West line home. The walk from office building to the station took 10mins. In fact, it was the waiting time for traffic lights.

The train station was very quiet as most people already left office by this time. Was lucky that the train arrived just when I got to the platform. Managed to get a seat and took the ride to Buona Vista station.

It was strange that the waiting time at Buona Vista for train to Pasir Ris took 6 mins. The next train was also another 6 mins which I decided to get in and just stand till I could get a seat.

It took me 1hr 40mins to reach home. Not much earlier compared to usual route of taking bus to Queenstown station. It also very hot while waiting for train at Buona Vista station. Was it due to my walking too fast or the weather too hot???

Anyway, its my first trip of riding train on Circle line since it opened on 8 Oct. Good try.

Badminton

This afternoon, I went with my colleagues to Hyatt hotel to play badminton with one of our customer. He booked a court at 12 - 1pm but we ended up reaching at 12.30pm. Luckily there was no one booking the 1pm slot hence they were able to continue with their game. I did not join in as I knew I did not have stamina. Don't want a scene of a ball rolling here and there. Hahaha.

After their game, we ate at the poolside cafe. There was no air-conditioning but luckily not too hot as there were ceiling fans. The food was very nice and really thumbs up. They were better than the food served in Straits Kitchen. Price was reasonable too.

I managed to leave office at 7.30pm and followed my colleague to Bedok MRT station. She could not send me home as she had dinner appointment. Reached home at about 8.50pm. Strange.... still need 1hr 20mins. It was the feeder bus fault. Missed one bus and had to wait for so long.

Very tired today. MUST sleep earlier!

Eyes cannot open

Slept too late for the past nights and the effect is here. My eyes cannot open widely and kept feeling sleepy during the day.

Left office earlier tonight at 8pm. Need to reach home by 10pm as I was meeting UOB banker on the housing loan.

The banker was rather good and explained in detailed of the few options. Will compare with DBS banker again to decide which plan to take.

In fact, while he was talking, my eyes actually wanted to close. I tried to open wide wide uh. So coincidence that one of my customer is actually his brother-in-law.

I think I need to sleep earlier tonight. Otherwise, tomorrow can only see 2 small lines on my face (eyes cannot open liao).
