This afternoon, went to Chinatown during lunch time. Purpose was to exchange currency for our trip next week and also to see if I can get a new camera. Was unable to make up my mind whether to buy new one or not for the past few days.
Swiss Franc rate went up since yesterday. Few smaller money changers did not have stock. After comparing 2 stalls, we decided to go ahead with the one that gave us exchange rate 1.384. Initially was 1.385 and was glad that there was a bit of "discount" (even small also felt happy). There was a lady who wanted to buy a small amount of Swiss Franc but was told they sold out! All was taken by us. I think they still have but just did not want to sell more for the day. Wanted to keep long position so that they can sell at higher rate if tomorrow's rate went up again. :)
Went to the shop that 小珠 bought her camera last year. They were having promotion and after checking the prices for a few recommended Panasonic camera, I decided to buy the model similar to 小珠's. Just that it did not have GPS. It was about $80 cheaper than the model she had. Since I am fine without GPS, I decided on TZ8. It costs $385 and with spare battery, total is $429. Was happy with the price as I am "aiming" for this one since it has 12x optical zoom.
Therefore, my house now has 3 different sizes camera. Small, Medium and Large. All from family of Panasonic. I can use the new camera next week. Yippy!!!
Just heard latest news of Japan being hit with another strong quake near Miyagi Prefecture. Measured magnitude at 7.4 hit at 11.30pm local time (10.30pm sin time). So sad that this added stress to current bad situation at that area. Pray hard for the safety of the people staying at that area. Believe this will not be as bad as the previous one but it is still bad to hit at same area. People will be panicked when they recalled the last quake that caused the big tsunami.
